What if my CSV format isn't recognised?

Our importer tries to auto-detect columns based on known competitor formats. For unrecognised formats, we show which columns we found and you can see if the mapping looks right. If you need more control, try Google Sheets mode instead where you can manually place data into our template.

What happens to columns we don't support?

We preserve what matters: customer details, pet info, contact information. Columns with very large data (over 512 characters, like lengthy notes) are automatically skipped to ensure fast, reliable import. You'll see exactly what's included in the validation step.

Can I undo an import?

We strongly recommend using Simulation Mode first to preview everything. Once imported, records are created in Petboost but can be individually edited or archived if needed. There's no bulk undo, so the simulation step is important.

What about package balances and credits?

CSV import focuses on customer and pet records. For package credits and balances, use Google Sheets mode where you have more control over the data structure. Or contact us for Migration Concierge service for complex migrations.

Do I need technical skills?

Not at all. If you can export a file from your current system and upload it to a website, you can use our importer. We handle all the technical mapping and validation. Most business owners complete their import without any help.

How long does the whole process take?

Export takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending on your current system. Upload and validation is instant. Review might take 5-10 minutes to check the preview. Import itself runs in seconds to minutes depending on data volume. Total: most businesses are done in under an hour.

What if I have thousands of customers?

Our standard import handles up to 1,000 pet owners and 2,000 pets per batch. For larger datasets, contact us about our Migration Concierge service where we handle everything for you, including data cleaning and transformation.
